I never told you how old I am, have I? Have you ever wondered about that? Well, it is no secret, I just celebrated my 34th birthday yesterday! Sadly, without a cake - it would be hard to bake one here on Mars, at least for now. You would need flour, eggs, butter, some chocolate maybe... never mind, I am not going to pretend I know how to bake a cake. It doesn't bother me much to lead a cakeless life. But you know what bothers me?
The time ticking away, my life wasting away. It is my birthday that brings me these thoughts: how much time is left for me to live? As a male, my life expectancy falls between 70 and 80 years old. It is hard to pinpoint one number because lifespan differs country by country and I am, you could say, stateless, a man without any citizenship. But I like to be optimistic: with my current health (nothing to complain about besides an occasional headache), I can hopefully still expect to live another 50 years or more. Of course, this assumes I manage to survive on Mars - and that moving to Mars didn’t hurt my health too much.
50 more years ahead for me here on Mars... So many things I could do, so many things I probably couldn't. Many things I will leave for future generations to continue. Oh, and they will - the study by The Institution of Engineering and Technology has estimated that the next generation of children will spend approximately 10 years in the VR metaverse in their lifespan. We spend around 4 years and 6 months eating alone - so imagine what you could do in 10 years!
But metaverse is a broad term. Where exactly will these people spend their time? Could it be the Otherside?
The NFT giants Bored Ape Yacht Club are jumping into the metaverse world with a huge announcement - the introduction of their metaverse project called Otherside! Not much information is released about the project so far, but you can already purchase so-called Otherdeed land plots on OpenSea. These NFTs will serve as land plots in the upcoming metaverse game where players will be able to interact with each other.
We talked about many things coming to metaverses, from shoes to football, but what about metaverses coming to real life? If you are in the San Francisco area, I have news for you: Facebook's parent company, Meta, revealed the plans to open up a store dedicated to the metaverse. In the shop, you can expect to buy a pair of VR headsets and learn more about Meta, the upcoming virtual world. It might be the first but definitely not the last shop to be opened! Would you like to visit the Mars4 store someday? Imagine if you could buy a Mars4 t-shirt there - I know some of you want them!
